Zoophilia
Zoophilia, the ancient Greek "animal") and "friendship" or "love"), is a paraphilia in which the animal is the object of desire. The newspaper run by Victor Hugo called "The Bestiality" and the term is often used even in the classical sense "platonic" , meaning most commonly used today.
Generally regarded as deviant or perverted sexual, it becomes a paraphilia if it meets these criteria , although it is no longer listed since 1980 in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the benchmark U.S. and global psychiatric regarding mental illness.
Emerged in the nineteenth century , the word comes from zoophilia Greek roots. It was formerly known as "bestiality". In 2009, the term is often used to describe the transition to the actual sexual act that may result from an attraction zoophile. We also speak in this case of "sex with animals."

Historical references
In art
Artistic representations of zoophilia are present in the cave paintings and ancient sculptures. In the literature, The Thousand and One Nights show two scenes of bestiality obvious, and the Latin novel The Golden Ass of Apuleius also mentions a scene where a female mates with a donkey.
Case famous historical
The most famous zoophile seems to be the Byzantine Empress Theodora (c. 500 - 548 ) which according to Procopius in his Secret History , was engaged in some scenes bestial orgies. However, the veracity of these claims seems very questionable.
In France in 1601 , ruling on appeal, the Parliament of Paris condemned to death Culam Claudine , born Rozay-en-Brie , aged 16, servant to Mr. Prior of Reverecourt for four years, "well and truly reached and convicted of having carnal knowledge of a dog house white speckled red. In this case, the judges - at the urging of the mother who was sure of the innocence of his daughter - accepted a scientific and pragmatic.
Claudine, who was overheard by witnesses in a state of "living flesh" with a dog was brought before a court composed only of women having the status of "expert" in a room adjacent to the appellate court. The dog joined in this room. The committee said the girl undress for examination looking for any scratches, but the dog immediately, without waiting to be invited, he jumped on it and took it doggy style. "Sexual intercourse has occurred and we had to intervene," wrote the panel of experts in their sound official. On the basis of the testimony and report, the dog and the girl had been strangled and their bodies burned, their ashes scattered to the winds so that nothing remains of this coupling.
Terminology
The general term zoophilia was introduced for the first time in Richard Freiherr von Krafft-Ebing, Psychopathia Sexualis in his film in 1886. In sexology , psychology and plain language, this term has a broader meaning, such as affinity, affection or sexual attraction to a partner non-human. This term refers to sexual attraction to animals, and, less commonly, the paraphilia of the same name.
The term refers zoosexualit the entire spectrum of emotions, sexual attraction or sexual orientation toward animals. Zoosexuel the term is used since the 1980s, but is not usual in French. Individuals with a strong affinity to animals, but without sexual attraction can be described as bestiality "non-sexual" (or "emotional"), but may reject the term zoophile. They are more commonly referred to as "animal lovers".
The ambiguous term sodomy was once used to describe non-procreative sexual acts. The term refers to bestiality, sexual acts between humans and animals. This term does not in itself the motivation or attitude.
For zoophiles and some researchers Origin of zoophilia Bestiality, sexual behavior between two species separate, does not in any way the reproduction which is indispensable to the survival of the species. For this reason, sexual behavior "against nature" is of incomprehensibility, and its origin has often been attributed to diseases of the sexual instinct or sexual disorders. But recent scientific evidence suggests that the origin of this sexual behavior is derived from normal neurobiological factors, and that its development and its expression depends, among the humans , mostly from the environmental culture. Although at present this activity is generally not widespread, there are still some companies where sexual activity with animals is culturally accepted . Data synthesis ethnological shows that when humans live with animals, where there is a close physical and emotional , and when there is no prohibited or cultural stigma, then the probability of observing This behavior is very high , . For example, in his study on the sexuality of the American population, Kinsey recorded many statements having sex with animals, mainly in agricultural areas: Moreover, sexual activity between animals belonging to different species were also observed in nature, and these activities are more frequent than the morphology of organisms is similar (donkey / horse, tiger / lion, etc.. ) . Recent studies conducted in the 2000s, to understand the origin of bestiality. Research in neuroscience suggests that humans stimulate their erogenous zones to trigger the rewarding stimulation in the brain . These awards , especially the climax , are perceived in terms of consciousness as sensations of pleasure and erotic pleasures. In simple terms, human beings seek sexual activities because it provides more intense erotic pleasures for their procreative end, which was already mentioned by Jean de Meun from the Roman de la Rose. In the human , the chimpanzee , the bonobo , the orang utan and the Dauphin , sexual behavior is no longer a breeding behavior , but becomes an erotic behavior . During the evolution , the importance and influence of hormones , and pheromones , on sexual behavior has decreased. Instead, the importance of awards has become a major . In humans, the purpose of sexual behavior is more vaginal intercourse but the search for pleasure erotic stimulation provided by the body and erogenous zones . Moreover, even among mammals lower as rodents or caprid , several features of reproductive behavior are not innate. For example, recognition of the congener is learned during the first years of life: kids adopted by ewes and lambs adopted by goats copulate with an adult partner of the adoptive case and not with members of their case . For this reason, it is "biologically normal" that animals reared together or with humans, eg in a farm or a zoo , can have sexual interactions (for example, see the videos: dog with chicken , rabbit cat , cat dog , dog with lion , cat dog , dog with tiger ). For all these reasons, zoophilia is "biologically normal" and can not be considered an act "against nature", an illness or a psychological disorder. For humans, the purpose of erotic behavior is the pursuit of sexual pleasures, new, varied and intense . For people who have regular sexual activities with animals, it is a sexual preference , which is formed during the life the same way as preferences olfactory, musical or food. Moreover, once, humans lived in close contact with animals ( nomads , shepherds , hut with only one common room for men and animals ...). The animal was something usual, normal and intimately known. Common life induced a familiarization with the smells, sounds, shapes and movements of animals. Common life, especially since childhood, encouraged the formation of emotional bonds with animals, and the endearing character of young animals and their voluntary actions to humans stimulated the attachment reciprocal. This is probably the practical conditions that explain, rather than all health considerations, the rejection of pork in some ancient civilizations of the Middle East. Indeed, this animal was ubiquitous in every home (as was still the case in the province or municipalities of French workers some cities half a century ago ...), knowing also that the pig, the compatibility of organic and physiological with humans is well established, is not immune to human pheromones, especially women. One can imagine then that relations zoosexuelles easily could have taken place, and most often at the initiative of the animal without a doubt. Such relationships are still identified by physicians in Auvergne and Brittany on the occasion of miscarriages residues of which can be seen (by privilege) in the "museum of monsters" of certain hospitals. We now understand that these civilizations very likely to give a theological dimension to all things have developed the feeling that the pig was an incarnation of evil, with a mission to subvert the human species. Religious precepts derived from them with Judaism and Islam have so simply prohibits the presence of this animal called then evil and lecherous. The explanations of health, or more subtle still, have therefore mainly designed to make it more easily understandable - and more acceptable - a ban that is not shared with other religions.
Zoophilia is relatively frequent in the rural western world, medieval and modern .
Finally, to further demonstrate the influence of cultural context, one observes that in Western societies of the twentieth century it is absolutely normal and natural for a human being to have many emotional interactions with a pet: he heals, sometimes sleeps with him, walking, sometimes dresses, speaks, eats meals can be expensive, it gives legal rights , defends against violence, advocate for protecting and promoting their welfare (even if the animal ends mostly on his plate), sometimes he writes poetry, focuses on him, plays with him, caresses and sometimes the strain against him, that is to say that Western man enjoys "naturally" with the animal all possible types of emotional relationships, but only those considered in its culture as "abnormal" and "against nature" because " sex ".
All these data ethnological , historical and sociological show the influence of major cultural scenarios, learned during childhood and adolescence, indicating in each society's attitudes and behaviors that each person must have for every type of situation .
Centuries current
The various studies conducted by various specialists of sexual mores (ie changing the Kinsey USA 1950 for women) indicates that a population of about 4% to 7% had at least once a sexual relationship with a pet in the U.S..
In 1969 Linda Lovelace , pornographic actress, had attended the first commercial film zoophile sold on different continents.
In 1973, Nancy Friday My Secret Garden posted in loud and female fantasies bestiality and stressed that the acting out is more common than one might suspect.
In 2005, David Lemire says Mr Hands, living in Enumclaw, Washington, USA, died from internal bleeding due to perforation of the colon due to a relationship with a stallion. His case led to the creation of a law against bestiality in Washington State repressing the sexual act and the act of the film.
In 2010 , a scandal of sexual abuse of animals animates Slovenia after a famous doctor was found torn apart by his dogs while he violated them. Upon discovery of the corpse, Dr Barevic was completely naked and not wearing a belt to which was attached a dildo. After investigations, it turned out that the man violated his animals for many years. Investigators believe there could be a network of zoophilia down there. Other high-ranking personalities have also participated in the sexual abuse of dogs .
Zoophilia is frequently seen as a vice , a perversion or deviance. It was long regarded as deviant as well as the sodomy. For some existing laws, it is considered illegal only when accompanied by acts of cruelty towards animals.
Internet has given a new impetus zoophilia who took him out of hiding to be widely exploited by pornography industry. The taboo and the forbidden gave the porn industry in a market where some actresses do not play with animals.
The distinction between zoophilia and bestiality
Bestiality is defined as "sexual perversion, relationships with animals" . Namely that these are people whose only interest is sex.
Zoophilia is defined as "Excessive fondness for animals" . Here, the individual is such a passion, admiration for the animals he feels a sexual attraction (but not necessarily take action).
The zoophilic is described as follows: "a person who shows interest or concern, love for animals" .
Some zoophiles have a very clear distinction between zoophilia and cattle, the first being those who love animals, the latter being those who have sex with animals without feeling any emotional attraction to animals.
Some zoophiles have sex only with animals and show no interest in humans, they are sometimes called "bestiality exclusive."
The community zoophile
There is a zoophile community and an organization, the ZETA: zoophiles forum the Ethical Treatment of Animals (French: zoophilic for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). It is symbolized by the Greek letter zeta in a circle.
The main mission of ZETA is to teach a definitive distinction between zoophilia and bestiality, and challenge acts of bestiality with the promotion of moral respect in the treatment of animals.
The principles are the ZETA:
- Give animals the same respect that you want to be given to oneself.
- Consider an animal companion is as important as any other.
- Accept the wishes and desires of the animal to mutual satisfaction.
- Educate those who seek it without promoting bestiality.
- Discourage the practice of bestiality in the presence of researchers fetish.
- Censor the sexual exploitation of animals for the purpose of financial gain.
- Censor those who practice and promote the sexual abuse of animals.
Legislation
In Prussia
Frederick II , who liked neither beasts nor women, would have abolished the crime by Voltaire :
"Some provincial judges wanted to burn I do not know what a poor peasant by a priest accused of an intrigue with his amorous donkey: we execute anyone without the king had confirmed the sentence, very human law that is practiced in England and in other countries; Frederick wrote down the sentence he gave to his states of consciousness and freedom of v ... "Voltaire, Memory for use in the life of Mr. de Voltaire, written by himself (composed in 1759 published only in 1784.)
In France
The Penal Code of 1791, promulgated by the Constituent Assembly abolished the crime of sodomy and bestiality, thanks in particular to the positions of formal criminal (Beccaria, Bentham ...) and completely complies with the Declaration of 1789 that the same Assembly had proclaimed freedom is being able to do anything that does not harm others (art. 4). The secularization of law and the liberal revolutionaries led to decriminalize homosexual acts and bestiality. Napoleon , in its Criminal Code of 1810, confirmed that decriminalization. During the nineteenth and twentieth century, criminal courts have condemned violent sex with animals, on the grounds of cruelty or mistreatment of pets or tame.
Until March 2004, no law punishing bestiality except where the animal was suffering severe beatings. Act No. 2004-204 of 9 March 2004 adapting the legal system to developments in crime, adds the phrase "or sexual" in section 521-1 of the Penal Code :
"The fact, publicly or not, exercise abuse or serious sexual or committing an act of cruelty to a pet, or pet, or held in captivity, is punishable by two years imprisonment and 30 000 euro fine. As additional punishment, the court may prohibit the keeping of an animal, either permanently or not.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to bullfights where local tradition can be invoked. They do not apply to cockfighting in localities where an unbroken tradition can be established.
The penalties in the first paragraph any creation of a new Gallodrome. Also same penalties abandoning a domestic animal, domesticated or kept in captivity, with the exception of animals for restocking . "
The amendment was adopted unanimously in the Assembly and Senate .
The Court of Cassation upheld, September 4, 2007, a decision of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of Dijon from 27 January 2006, condemning a person to one year suspended sentence and a permanent ban keeping animals .
Cases
The first application of this law dates back to September 4, 2007: A man was sentenced to one year suspended prison term, permanent ban on pet ownership and 2,000 euro fine for having sodomized his pony.
The order states:
" In Switzerland
Sections 135 and 197 of the Penal Code prohibits the dissemination and possession (since 2001 ) of pornography or scenes of violence involving animals.
United Kingdom
The Crimes Act 2003 prohibits sexual penetration of the vagina or anus of a living animal by the penis of a person, the law also prohibits the introduction of the penis of a living animal into the vagina or anus of a person. Violators can be sentenced to imprisonment not exceeding 2 years. In Canada
Section 160 (1) of the Criminal Code, Part V, prohibits bestiality in these terms: "A person is guilty of an indictable offense and liable to imprisonment for a term of ten years, an offense punishable on conviction summary conviction, a person who commits an act of bestiality. "
- Section 160 (2) provides the same penalty for anyone who compels another to commit an act of bestiality.
- Article 160 (3) provides the same penalty for a person who commits this act before a child under fourteen.
In Spain
In Spain, no law explicitly reprimand sexual acts and bestiality no cases of convictions. By cons, there are laws against animal abuse.
Myth and Religion
The most famous case of bestiality in Greek mythology is the mating of Pasiphae , the wife of Minos , with a white bull, giving birth to the Minotaur.
In some religions, like most monotheistic religions, sexual relations with animals are prohibited or punished by death. Thus we find in the Bible ( Leviticus ):
- 18, L23: "Thou shalt not lie with any beast to defile yourself with it. The woman will approach the point of a beast, to prostitute himself to her. That confusion. "
- 20, L15: "If a man lies with a beast, he shall die and you kill the beast. "
- 20, L16: "If a woman approach unto any beast, to prostitute himself to it, thou shalt kill the woman and the beast will be put to death: their blood is upon them. "
