Zayd Ibn Harithah
Zayd ibn Harithah ( 588 - 629 ) ( Arabic : ) is a leading companion of the Prophet Muhammad and the only one who was specifically named in the Koran. He later became chief of the army and died at the Battle of Mu'ta.
Biography
Son of a man called Haritha Zayd fell into slavery before the coming of Islam at the age of eight. He belonged to Khadija bint Khuwaylid , the first wife of Muhammad. The latter adopted and treated as his own son. When the verse of the Quran was revealed , he was called Zayd Mawla Muhammad instead of Zayd ibn Muhammad.
He was married to Zaynab bint Jahsh (in) but he divorced. He had a son Usama ibn Zayd (en). He died in 629 at age 55 years (8 years after the Hegira) to the Battle of Mu'ta .
His role in shipments
He also participated in the battles of Badr , Uhud , Hudaybiyah and Khaybar.
