Zayd Ibn Al Khattab
Zayd ibn al-Khattab ( Arabic : ) was a companion of Muhammad , the prophet of Islam and the brother of the second Caliph ` Umar ibn al-Khattab , who had great affection for him .
One day, in the presence of a group of companions , Muhammad predicted the apostasy of one of the members of this group , which struck terror among them. At the battle of Al-Yamama (en) in 632 , there remained only two people in this group alive: Ar-Rajjl ibn Ufwa and Abu Hurayra which, long feared to be the person whose Muhammad had spoken but he was relieved when Ar-Rajjl apostasia and became a supporter of Musaylima. Indeed, Ar-Rajjl came one day at Medinah announce his conversion to Islam and took the oath of allegiance to Muhammad. Return there in 632 , during the caliphate of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq to whom he proposed to delegate to establish an agreement between the Muslims and Musaylima. But, when AR-Rajjl realized that the enemy was more numerous, it apostasia, joined the enemy camp and obtained a special place. In addition, knowledge of the Koran , which he had learned a party, served the interests of Musaylima. Muslims learned the news and thought it to kill the "traitor." Zayd was one of the most committed to this task and its success was one of the most important events of his life.
The beginning of the battle was very unfavorable to the Muslims. Khalid ibn al-Walid gave the flag to Zayd who tried to bring together and motivate the troops. He ascended a hill and prayed to fight valiantly . He then threw himself on his enemies while searching where was Ar-Rajjl Ibn Ufwa. When he found him, he followed it step by step on the battlefield until he finally face him and kill him after he had repeatedly punched swords. This event had a strong impact on soldiers Musaylima. The battle continued and Zayd, who always carried the flag, found the death knell in spite of the troops Musaylima.
His tomb is located north of Riyadh today in Saudi Arabia. The structure that covered it was flattened by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab when he saw it served object of idolatry .
