Yusuf Al Mustansir

Yusuf al-Mustansir ( al-Mustansir bi-llah Yusuf ibn an-Nasir) was born in 1197. He succeeded his father Muhammad an-Nasir as caliph Almohad in 1213 when he was sixteen. He died on 6 January 1224 History

His father, Muhammad an-Nasir, who told the Ifriqiya to Abu Muhammad ibn Abi Hafs al- Yusuf al-Mustansir left him the task of governing. The Maghreb central escaped his control and even in Morocco the situation deteriorated under the pressure of Merinids. The sheikhs of Marrakech wanted to return to a practice that had never been used to refer the choice of a new caliph to a contestant. This created the unrest that will mark the end of the dynasty.

His three viziers:

  • Abu Sa `id bin Jam` i (1214-1214) (already vizier of Muhammad an-Nasir )
  • Abu Yahya al-Hizrajy (1214-1214) ( Abu Yahya al-hizrajy)
  • Abu `Ali bin Achrafiy (1214-1214) ( Ab` bin arafy Aliye)
  • Abu Sa `id bin Jam` i (1214-1223) (third vizierate)
