Valentinians

The dynasty known as Valentinians, named after its founder Valentinian I , reigned over the Roman Empire from 364 to 392 , when its last member died.

A branch of this dynasty also ruled the Byzantine Empire from 364 to 378 , in the person of Valens ( 328 378 ), brother of Valentinian I.


The dynasty emperors Valentinian

Valentinian I was chosen by the staff of the army proceeded with great sense of reason to state the choice of the successor of Jovian. The emperor thus chosen was indeed a brave fighter, which was the first of the qualities in these troubled times.

With the death of Valentinian II , the Empire fell entirely to Theodosius I who ruled the eastern part already.
