History
Creating the University
Following the events of May 1968, the University of Paris was divided into seven new universities, on the initiative of academics themselves. At the instigation including Professors Franois Luchaire (Right), Henry Bartoli (economy) and Helene Ahrweiler (humanities), University of Paris I (Panthon-Sorbonne) was born in 1971 the consolidation of part of the Faculty Law and Economics (Pantheon) and part of the Faculty of Humanities (Sorbonne).
Since its creation, Paris I saw their enrollments increase by 50% and the proportion of graduate students increased steadily. This growth, accompanied by the emergence of new disciplines (economic and social administration, social sciences and applied mathematics), required the allocation of new premises which have increased the capacity and the dispersion of the university: Centre St. Charles for the visual arts (1973), center Tolbiac (now Pierre Mendes-France (1973), Centre for Historical and Legal Street Mahler (1972), Centre Ren-Cassin for Undergraduate Law (1990 ) Home Economics (1998) for research in these disciplines and which settles the center Broca Institute of Business Administration in 2001 ....
Reconciliation of the 2000 Institutional
Following the introduction in France of Pole Research and Higher Education (PRES) in 2006 , the university has successively involved in several projects of an association of higher education institutions, as well as a project developed under the Campus Plan in January 2008.
The university began working on the project PRES Paris Centre Universits from January 2006 which includes other Parisian universities including Paris 5 and Paris 7 . The project is unsuccessful, the latter two universities are finally bringing the project Sorbonne Paris city and the university began in early 2010 to work with other institutions around the project Hautes Etudes-Sorbonne Arts and Crafts .
The university is working at the same time with other partners around the project of Campus Condorcet in order to open a new campus north of Paris. The project is being detained in 2008 under the campus plan .
