Summary

History

University Paris-Dauphine

Dauphine University Center , with faculty status, was created by decree of 24 October 1968 in the former headquarters of NATO. This property became the 1st January 1971 the University of Paris IX Dauphine and benefited from its creation of broad autonomy in educational innovation.

Universit Paris-Dauphine has quickly gained a reputation and international recognition in the field of management science by opening its graduate diplomas to graduates of colleges of engineering and business. The selection of candidates performed at the entrance was the subject of legal battles since its inception. Each year the school receives 6,000 applications for only 650 seats in the first year , . The graduates selected are almost exclusively bachelor's general and holders of 80% or an honors degree in Fine . For the Masters the most wanted, the selection is of the order of 10 candidates for a place

According to the draft approved by the Board of Trustees of the University, Dauphine in February 2004 obtained the status of large institution . While giving him the new flexibilities, its new status reinforces the university's core missions: the development and enhancement of research, training and continuing education. It also allows the selection of its students (which was illegal in the previous legal framework ) and a range of curriculum coherent and professionalised .

On March 23, 2010, IAE Paris decided to leave the University of Paris 1 - Panthon Sorbonne Paris-Dauphine join.

Presidents

The university president is elected by the 3 tips focus: board, board of education and academic life and scientific advice . Its mandate is five years, not immediately renewable. The change in status of the institution led an exception: Bernard Montmorillon chaired Dauphine for 8 consecutive years.

Campus: Paris, La Defense and Tunis

The Paris campus

Paris-Dauphine occupies the former Palace of NATO (1959-1966) located at the Porte Dauphine in the sixteenth district, vacated by the departure of the organization's headquarters in Belgium. The building was designed in a monumental style by the architect Jacques Carlu, who also built the Palais de Chaillot . Some remnants of the transatlantic organization still exist: the stars on the gates, the motto "in consulendo Animus liber" in the waiting room or the hall Raymond Aron, who has kept the big table in a circle. The great hall of the council has become the auditorium ("A8") while the university library has replaced the cafeteria overlooking the Bois de Boulogne on the eighth floor .

In October 1994 a "new wing" was opened by Jacques Chirac , mayor of Paris , where there are concentrated research activities, thus closing the building whose shape is reminiscent of a capital.

But the university has outgrown its 60,000 sq m with little opportunity to further increase the capacity of its local history. A plan to move towards full establishment Defence had been envisaged in 1990, the sale of land in an expensive area to generate significant financial resources, but met strong opposition . More recently the movement of the Continuing Education Department at La Defense and / or Issy-les-Moulineaux had made the study, while the INALCO and the Graduate School of Interpreters and Translators (TISS) should leave the premises in the coming years .

The campus of Defence

The question implantation in La Defense has finally materialized in the project of Greater Paris , mentioned by the President April 29, 2009: "You have to Defence 'City' of France. We need not remain stuck Dauphine on the premises of NATO " . Since September 2009, Paris-Dauphine and has six rooms with 50 seats, ten rooms with 28 seats and a dozen offices in the Pole Universitaire Leonard de Vinci .

Finally, since 2008, Paris-Dauphine is present in Tunisia through the Institute Tunis Dauphine , . The Institute respects both academic standards and pedagogy Tunisian Dauphin. Indeed, graduates receive not only a master Tunisian national but also a master of Paris-Dauphine.
