The University of Paris-Crteil Val de Marne East (UPEC, official name: Paris-XII ), is a university franaisee of Ile-de-France. It comprises 12 faculties and institutes, located on three dpartements: Val-de-Marne, Seine-et-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis. Its headquarters, based in Creteil, is accessible by the subway line 8 station Creteil-University. History

University Paris 12-Val de Marne, was created by decree of March 21, 1970 following the division of the University of Paris after the Act Faure.

At its inception, the university consisted of the Faculty of Medicine of Crteil built in 1969 with the CHU Henri Mondor and a university located in La Varenne-Saint-Hilaire who hosted since 1969, training in law and economics. It is from 1970 that the university has expanded with the construction of the multidisciplinary center .

From 1988, with the assistance of the General Council of Seine-et-Marne and the Regional Council, Paris 12 expands its activities in Seine-et-Marne with the opening of a Department of IUT on the new town of Senart . This department will be completed by 3 others on the same site by 2 departments at Fontainebleau . The whole was, from 1998, ITU Snart / Fontainebleau .

Two departments of IUT will also be created in 1995 in Vitry-sur-Seine on one site of the General Council of Val de Marne, bringing the IUT Crteil-Vitry to 6 departments .

Until September 2005 the law was taught on the air called "Paris - Saint Maur," an integral component of Paris 12, located in Saint-Maur-des-Fosses in the district of La Varenne-Saint-Hilaire , and who enjoyed a great reputation. Earlier still, the economy sector management was given to Saint-Maur-des-Fosses into the 90s. New premises have since come to replace the dilapidated site of St. Maur. The heiress of the law faculty of Saint-Maur is now based in Crteil near the Echat. Faculty of Economics is close to the multidisciplinary center, near the neighborhood of Lvrire .

In March 2007, Paris 12 has been enriched by a new component in integrating the University Institute of Teacher Training (IUFM) of the Academy of Creteil.

In July 2007, Paris 12 joined as a founding member, the hub of research and higher education (Pres) Universit Paris-Est , a public scientific cooperation .

Governance and Management

The president of the university is Bonnafous Simone. His mandate ends in February 2011.

Since 1 January 2010, The UPEC increased responsibilities and greater powers (autonomy in budgetary and human resources) within the framework of the law on the freedoms and responsibilities of universities ( LRU ) .
