Overview

History

Creation

The University of Paris XIII result from the willingness of the University of Paris in the early 1960s, opening a third faculty of science at Villetaneuse. In September 1969 was created in Saint-Denis a university science-based with faculty status within the University of Paris , called "University Centre Saint-Denis - Villetaneuse. In 1970 decided the division of the University of Paris in 13 entities, Villetaneuse hosts and the University of Paris XIII. The new university is designed by architects and Fainsilber Anspach as part of the renovation of the town at Villetaneuse. The first stage of construction is the construction of the literary and legal, designed to accommodate approximately 5000 students. The first building, completed in October 1970, ensures the academic year in December 1500 and to welcome first year students of law, economics, arts and humanities. In 1972, the University of Paris XIII and includes two libraries, the Library of the University Centre Saint-Denis and the Library of the University Centre of Villetaneuse.

Developments

In 2008, the university engages in the Campus of Sydney. In 2010, she became a member of the NEAR Sorbonne Paris City.

Structure

Pursuant to Education Code , which sets the legal organization of public universities in France, Paris 13 is divided into several components. You can find one hand units training and research (UFR) and secondly the 'institutes and schools. " Thus, the university is structured as follows :

Campus

The university premises are spread over four campuses :

• Villetaneuse (Head, Law, Humanities, Sciences)
• Saint-Denis (IUT)
• La Plaine Saint-Denis
• Bobigny (IUT, Health Medicine).

Training

Paris 13 provides the general academic stream ( license , master ) in five areas: Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Technology, Health, Culture and Communication, Law, Economics, Management, Language Arts Letters .

The university also awards the degree of Technology (DUT) in the ITU and the engineering degree in the Galilee Institute .

Doctorate

The doctoral studies are organized in two graduate schools :

• Erasmus School (for humanities and social)
• Galilee School (for the sciences, technology, health).
