Teacher-researchers 1300 (2008-09) is a French university-based multidisciplinary Tours. Pursuant to Article 1 of its statutes, it took the name of Franois-Rabelais University . This is the largest university in the central region.

Summary

History

Creation

Between 1946 and 1968 are created in Tours a University College of Law and Economics dependent on the University of Orleans , a University College Literature, a Graduate Center of the Renaissance , a College Science University, a Faculty of Medicine, and University Institute of Technology. Work on bridge sites Volant, Tanners, and Grandmont Park begin at the end of the year 1969 .

The University of Tours was founded in 1970 by aggregation of these faculties and colleges .

Developments

In 1995 was inaugurated the new Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences on the campus of the Two Lions .

The university is close to the University of Orleans from 2004 with the establishment of the University Centre Loire Valley Association (law 1901). In March 2010 , she became a founding member with it in the University Centre Val de Loire , a hub of research and higher education

In 2009 , she became an independent university under the law on the freedoms and responsibilities of universities

Structures

Organization

Pursuant to Education Code , which sets the legal organization of public universities in France, Universit Franois-Rabelais is divided into several components. We find the inclusion of seven units of training and research (UFR) and secondly the 'institutes and schools. " Thus, the university is structured as follows :

Franois Rabelais University Press

Since 2002 , the Presses Universitaires Franois Rabelais (PUFR) form a joint service of the University. They promote scientific research aimed at professionals and amateurs curious. This publishing house is managed by the University under the direction of Samuel Leturq (Lecturer in medieval history).

Common Service Documentation

Common Documentation Service (CDS) brings together various information resources of the university. It consists of five libraries : Law-Economics-Geography, Humanities, Language Arts, Humanities, Medicine, Science and Pharmacy, Blois, and a Documentation Centre at the IUT.
The CPC also includes 14 libraries associated laboratories.

Campus

The University of Tours is a multi-site and its components are located throughout the city of Tours , and 24,000 students spread across 6 major campuses:

  • Tonnell (medicine)
  • Two Lions (engineering school, law, economics, geography, AES)
  • Grandmont (science, pharmacy, GEII IUT)
  • Tanners (letters and languages, arts and humanities)
  • Flying Bridge (University Institutes of Technology)
  • Beaumont-Chauveau (administrations and presidencies)

In addition, the university has an office in Blois, where a portion of the computer industry, the IUT of Blois and a department of law. There are also sites of lesser importance in the center of Tours as the musicology faculty of the site including an Fromont center for foreign students and the site that hosts Beranger SUIO among others.

Two former barracks formerly occupied by schools in the logistics and rail , are used by the university. They serve as an appendix to the Faculty of Medicine, home to the Office of the President of the University and the seat of PRES : the University Centre Val de Loire.

Training

The general academic courses at the University are organized on the principle of the LMD reform , or Bachelor , Master and Doctorate. The university also offers bachelor's technology through both IUT attached to it.

All major areas of training are present in this comprehensive university, such as the arts, the performing arts and culture, law, economics, management, commerce, literature, linguistics, languages, careers in teaching, humanities and social sciences, life sciences, health, science and technology. They can move both to the specific professional (degree of professional license , professional master , of engineering ) than to the world of research.

The University of Tours is also distinguished in the field of materials for energy technology research with the microelectronic CERTEM in collaboration with ST Microelectronics since 1996.

The research also extends into the field of medical imaging, bio-medicines, cancer , and more specifically in the study of autism in partnership with Inserm. The study of the biology of the insect is considered as a point of view environmental and biological.
