The University of South Brittany (official name: South Brittany , abbreviated as UBS), is a university located in the department of Morbihan in France. Founded in 1995 , UBS is the fourth and youngest public university in Brittany after those of Rennes I , Rennes-II and West Britain. The six components of the university are spread over the campus of Vannes and Lorient. A branch of the IUT Lorient is located since 2001 in Pontivy.

The university is multidisciplinary ( law , economics , management , arts , letters , foreign languages , history , geography , social work , mathematics , computer science , biology , chemistry ). It trains some 8,200 students.

She is a member of several research centers such as the European University of Brittany , which she co-founded and which includes the major research centers in Brittany, or the network of universities in the West Atlantic which includes the ten these universities in four regions of Brittany , Limousin , Pays de la Loire and Poitou-Charentes. First relocations university

Programming the new university

From the mid -1980s , the rising number of graduates requires universities to expand to accommodate the growing number of students. The open universities in Rennes and at Saint-Brieuc a new campus. Creation and development of the university

The University of South Brittany takes the status of public institution with scientific, cultural and professional by a decree of 7 February 1995 and became a full-fledged university. Presidents of the University of South Brittany

Since the establishment of the university, three presidents have succeeded to the head of the institution. Structure

Pursuant to Education Code , which sets the legal organization of public universities in France, UBS brings together six components : three units of training and research , called "faculties", an engineering school and two polytechnics. The university is structured around three units of training and research . They have the burden of educating students, but also part of research activities through research laboratories and institutes.   • the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management (DSEG), headed by Patrick Le Mestre, in charge of training in law and economics - management. The central documentation service (DCS) manages all the holdings of the university. It was established on 26 December 1995 by the Board of Trustees of the University . These holdings are available on the following sites:

  • the university library Lorient , providing a fund of 54 000 books in law, humanities, languages, humanities and social sciences and technology, including research and training reports, and documentation on orientation: A guide to universities, competitions, courses. Students have at their disposal 250 periodicals;

Foundation University of South Brittany

At Lorient the university has two campuses . The campus Lanveur brings together the Faculty of Humanities, Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences and the training center Health and Social Affairs and the IUT de Lorient. Buildings "Science 1" and "Science 2" of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering Sciences and the ENSIB are located on the campus of Saint-Maude close to the presidency of the university activities Lorient. The Doctor

Since 2008, the activity of doctoral institutions NEAR European University of Brittany is organized by the doctoral school of UEB. The latter consists of eight graduate schools .
