Foundation 1991 History

First offshoring university

The first relocation local university was established by the University of Lille, which implements in 1963 a college science Calais . A project to develop the college into a university of law is proposed in 1971 , between the districts of Fort and Nieulay Bleriot, but still no action at that time .

The first implantation in Calais is complemented by the University of Lille 1 , one university successor to the University of Lille after their split in 1970 , in 1976 by opening a diploma of DEUG B. Other components of this university also relocate some of their teachings, like the University Institute of Technology Bethune opens a branch at Calais in 1971 , and the Technical University of Lille , which opens a branch at Dunkirk. The latter location is completed in Dunkirk in 1985 when the University of Lille 1 and opens training DEUG A. The various departments of IUT met in 1988 at a single institution, the University Institute of Technology coast , under the supervision of the University of Lille 1 .

Other Lille universities begin to develop in the region during the second half of the 1980s with the opening by the University of Lille III a DEUG of Foreign Languages in 1987 in the cities of Dunkirk and Boulogne- sur-Mer , and the opening by the University of Lille II a DEUG law in 1989 in Boulogne-sur-Mer . The University of Nancy II and the Chamber of Commerce of Dunkirk plance bring into the Higher Institute of International Trade in Dunkirk in 1985 .

Creating the University

The increase in student enrollments in the mid -1980s require universities region to review their arrangements to accommodate them, and opening new venues outside Lille is studied. An initial report is transmitted in 1988 the rector of the academy by the presidents of four universities in the region through the regional pattern of post-baccalaureate courses, followed in 1990 by a mission led by Bordet, Zalta and Garden to request application of Minister of Higher Education .

Three zones are affected by these projects, one to the east of the department of North around the University of Valenciennes , and two others in the Artois and along the coast, which must accommodate two new universities . The institution must open on the coast is designed from the ground around four areas of implementation, some lessons being duplicated to be delivered through different sites . The university was founded in the Littoral 1991 .

Development of the University

The university must develop the capacity of its infrastructure during its early years, and the sites of settlements of the property does not grow at the same speed. The program of construction and rehabilitation of buildings range from 1992 to 1997 . At the start of 1994 , the university has 49 105m of space, including 35,371 sqm of permanent premises. In Boulogne, 2257 sq ft space available final cons 4889 square feet of space teporaires, Calais 12 065 sq m 3447 final cons of temporary, Dunkirk 18 528 sq m 5398 final against temporary. Only Saint-Omer with its 2521 sq ft space has all the definitive space .

IUT du Littoral is split in 1998 into two new ITU .

The University joins other institutions of higher education and research in the region in 2009 to create the PRES Universit Lille Nord de France . The property also requires skills extended to 1 January 2010

The university opened a school of engineers back in 2010 by integrating its components the PCIA a private school opened in 1991 .

Components

The university does not count for training units and research , but is structured around four centers of academic management (UGC), one per site, and five management centers for Research (CGR), one for each house research. Moreover, the establishment is two IUT and the Higher Institute of International Trade in Dunkirk .

The University of Littoral is located in four different cities of the coast of northern France , north and west of Lille : Dunkerque , Calais , Boulogne-sur-Mer and Saint-Omer.

Pole of Boulogne-sur-Mer

The buildings are from or restored buildings built in downtown in 1992 to 1998. The restoration works of local academic center of the museum are made in four tranches of 1992 to mid 1996 . The University Centre Saint-Louis was built on the site of the former hospital of the same name, destroyed in 1988 for the premises located at the university. Only the main entrance of the old building has been preserved, restored and transformed into 2010 in the main entrance to the academic center . New buildings are constructed for the IUT, which opened in 1997 , the university library, which opened the same year and the first phase of construction on the site of Wimereux, inaugurated in 1998. Buildings are restored to accommodate the student house, opened in late 1995 , and those of the imperial household, whose work is completed in 1998 . These facilities are completed in 2008 with the inauguration of new buildings for the training center of the university, CUEEP, and a gym .

Pole Calais

The cluster consists of Calais in new construction. IUT is inaugurated in 1987 , and those of the IUP in 1992. These latter extensions are added in 1994. The same year, the academic center of the Mi-Voice is inaugurated. The last buildings of this phase of construction are delivered in 1997 with the construction of infrastructure STAPS , extension of the Mi-Voice, the House Research and the University Library .

Pole Dunkirk

The University Centre of the Citadel was built in the early 1990s on the site of the Citadel of Dunkirk, in the framework of the "Neptune" to rehabilitate the neighborhood of the city . The main buildings were delivered in 1990 , 1994 and 1997. The academic center is built Lamartine delivered in two tranches in 1992 and 1993. The following year, the House of Research in Humanities (MRSH) takes place in a building rehabilitated. In 1996 , the House of the Industrial Environmental Research (MWRI), and the building of the Presidency and central administrative services of the university are completed, followed in 1997 by the University Library, the latter two buildings are new construction .

The Institut Superieur du Commerce International de Dunkerque (ISCID) occupies since 2010 the building of the former tobacco warehouse in the city and is thus incorporated into the academic center of the Citadel.

Pole Saint-Omer

The division of Saint-Omer has several departments of IUT, built in 1994 , and part of the engineering school of the university opened in 2010 following the integration of PCIA. The urban community of Saint-Omer , owner, plans to eventually expand to form a campus ,

International Relations

The university is involved in exchange programs such general that Erasmus or CREPUQ , and is also linked to foreign universities by bilateral agreements. The policy of the institution for the implementation of these programs is to focus on relations with institutions of higher learning with geographical positions or similar socio-economic. These exchanges have involved 47 foreign students and 65 local students left for the year 2006 - 2007 . The university in 2010 a total of 70 partnerships with foreign institutions .

The university also welcomes international students who are permanent graduation French. For the year two thousand and six - in 2007 , the number of these students was 1,869, including 326 students from China , 448 from the Maghreb , and 809 sub-Saharan Africa. These students account for nearly 50% of students in doctorate from the university. The establishment has the same year nearly 349 students enrolled abroad in training delocalized .

Student Life

Associative

The hotel has 26 student associations on its various sites in 2009 , including 11 in Boulogne-sur-Mer , and 15 to Dunkirk , the Calais site do not count on that date. These associations are primarily structured around courses or degrees .

The university has set up an office of student life in 2006 , responsible for promoting the activities of these associations, and a student's home was set up in Boulogne-sur-Mer , following an agreement between the community of municipalities and the university. The property also funds each year since 2005 thirty projects supported by these associations .

Culture and sports

Student participation in sports activities outside their course is between 20 and 30%. The four sites of the university are concerned by these practices, and building support to these activities by promoting exchanges between the department responsible for sport, SUAPS, and the department responsible for teaching academic sport, particularly by pooling equipment and operating hours of the 31 positions affected .

Cultural life of the university is supported by a dedicated cultural service, "La Piscine" which holds an annual forty events. The activities of this service are mainly concentrated at the site of Dunkirk. It is funded to the tune of 290 000 and has 4.5 positions. The university also has five student associations operating in this field, employing some sixty volunteers, and operating on the sites of Dunkirk and Boulogne-sur-Mer .
