Originally authorized in 1559 in Douai by Popes Paul IV and Pius IV in the wake of the Counter-Reformation and the Council of Trent , actually created by Philip II of Spain (first faculties of law, then the medical and Arts), the organization until the early medieval rayon French Revolution which did away with the faculties. Progressively restructured, it expands at Lille in 1885 / 86. The University of Lille then comprises four major components: law, literature, medicine and science. The first buildings of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Lille were inaugurated by Jules Ferry April 24, 1874, taking over from the prep school at the pharmacy created in 1805. The main research facilities of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy are built at the corner of rue Jean Bart and the Rue de Valmy, opposite the place Philippe Lebon. The work entrusted to the architect Carlos Blender, took place from 1876 to 1892.

The current form of the university date of 1971 (implementation of the reform of 1968), with the breakup into three separate university structures, including Lille II. Its headquarters is on rue Paul Duez (Constitutionalist renowned, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Lille). It has 1800 staff (including 1,000 teachers and teacher-researchers) to 22,000 students / year (initial), spread over twenty sites, this multipolarity is not without problems of synergy, added "the marriage of carp and the rabbit "(Evaluation Report - 1995) is that the coexistence of two distinct poles: law and health. It will have lost in the last decade of the twentieth century , control of two remote units (its antenna Boulogne-sur-Mer and the IUT of Lens ). Its chairman is currently Professor Christian Sergheraert.

Components

Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Legal, Political and Social Lille II is located in the

University of Lille 2 (main entrance on Paul Duez

Mills neighborhood southwest of Lille. Since its inception in the sixteenth century, the Faculty has traveled extensively: Douai, where it prospered initially to Lille. Installed in 1895 Angelier Street (premises still exist), she moved in 1949 St. Paul-Duez (current home of the university), before emigrating in 1975 in Pont-de-bois in Villeneuve d'Ascq. Finally, in 1995 it was decided that the new law school will take place on the renovated site of the old spinning Leblan Place Deliot.

The amphitheater of prestige is dedicated to Ren Cassin , Nobel Peace , who taught as a professor of law at Lille.

There is still a branch of the faculty at Cambrai. The other antenna, animated in Boulogne-sur-Mer, was absorbed by the creation of the University of Littoral based in Dunkirk.

The Faculty has its own training department.

Its current dean is Professor Bernard Bossu.

There are various institutes: Criminology - IEJ (Legal Studies), ICEU (construction, environment and urban planning), IPAG (preparation for the general administration). The Faculty also houses the Graduate School of Business of Lille , the CRFPB (Regional Training Centre for Vocational bars), the IST (Institute of Labour Studies), as well as research laboratories, such as the Center Demogue, The Judiciary History Center, the CERAPS or IREENAT (Research Institute of the changing environment of transnational activities)

Enrollment: 7000 students and 350 teachers.

The offer of training: the Faculty has adopted the curriculum LMD. It proposes a "License Policies & Legal Sciences Economiques" which comes in several particulars (Law, conveyancing, Public Administration, European law, political science, etc..), A law capacity , multiple Masters ( Political Science , Private Law, Public Law, Business Law, etc..) to PhD. In addition the Faculty offers vocational courses: BA (Management of Small and Medium Enterprises; Transport) Master (Right of the transnational activities, defense and national security and European Company Law, etc..). It also offers a complete course in Political Science: BA 3, Master Professional and Research Master.

Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine Henri Warembourg de Lille II is the product of a long history that began in Douai in 1570 and is beginning to Lille by a Royal School of Surgery from 1705 , transformed into a medical school established by the municipality Lille in 1805, but the decisive stage of development Lille was the creation in 1874 of the Joint Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, located rue Jean-Bart and inaugurated by Jules Ferry April 24, 1874 . It will eventually migrate to the new hospital, east of Lille, completed in 1951 - 1953. It is still there today, and the Regional University Hospital Centre ( CHU ), but occupies new premises since 1996 , signed by the architect Gilles Neveux , and dedicated to one of his former deans, also first President of the University of Lille II, Professor Ware. Since 1981, the Institute of Speech-Decroix Gabriel de Lille is attached to the Faculty of Medicine.

The Faculty is divided into two poles: the pole-facing research hospital Claude Huriez and training center that trained young doctors. The administration of the faculty is at the pole and street training Paul Duez the center of Lille. In January 2010, Didier Gosset was elected dean, replacing Jean-Paul Francke.

Enrollment: Students: approximately 6500 (including 3000 in PCEM1 for the year 2009-2010) students and 550 staff (including 287 teachers / researchers)

The Faculty provides initial training and continuing education of physicians, and helps train other health professionals, and basic and clinical medical research.

Faculty of Pharmacy

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences, Lille II is the successor to the Joint Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy established in 1874. Lotar Henry was the first holder of the Chair of Pharmacy established in 1881 (you can see the furniture and various objects its dispensary at the Museum of the Faculty of Pharmacy). The dichotomy sketched in 1970 , during the creation of the University of Lille II, with the establishment of an EBU pharmacy, which became independent in December 1980 , during the gathering of medical EBU within the Faculty of Medicine. It is located near the city hospital, rue du Professeur-Laguesse, along with the SFP of Lille II (Joint continuing education). Its dean is Professor Luc Dubreuil.

Staff: one hundred faculty members for 2,000 students

Faculty of Dentistry

The Faculty of Dentistry of Lille II is primarily linked to the history of the Faculty of Medicine, in which dental education is permitted, November 30, 1903, thanks to Dr. Abel Caumartin. Lille became the second city, after Nancy, to have such education. The Institute of Stomatology, finally opened in 1935, boulevard Paul Painlev, and destroyed in 1944, was rebuilt in 1965 to its current location, place de Verdun (near hospital) before becoming a health care and be erected in EBU in 1970, under the direction of Professor Marcel Lemaire , renowned prosthetist. Its current dean is Professor Peter Hubert Dupas.

Faculty of Sport

The Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of Lille II is the newest component of faculty. It is situated on the town of Ronchin , south of Lille. It provides training for teachers in physical education and sport. She has such a large stadium, a gymnasium and an indoor pool. Its director is Professor Patrick Pelayo.

Staff: More than 80 staff (60 teachers) for 2000 students

The training offer: Along with academic training declined as the system LMD , trainings have been professionalized to meet the job market in the fields of education and physical activities, sports, arts and recreation. Four specialized areas (athletic training, sports management, adapted physical activities , education and motor) are proposed and professional degrees (one DEUST "coaching and facilitation of APS 'and a professional license" Management of Sports Associations ") are offered.

Research: three laboratories covering the areas of life sciences and health, and social sciences and of surgery:

The joint service training (SFP) of Lille II (ex-IUFP), is located on the same area as the Faculty of Pharmacy. Its director is Mr. Larbi Ait Hennan.

The FPS does not summarize the whole offer continuing education of Lille II. This includes adding the specific faculties of law, medicine and pharmacy.

Sociology students
