The University of Haute Alsace is a French university , whose buildings are located in Mulhouse and Colmar. The University of Haute-Alsace became an independent university on January 1, 2009. It is part of the first 18 French universities to have attained this status.

The University of Haute-Alsace is known to be the precursor of apprenticeship training at the university . However, the Interministerial Delegation for the development and regional competitiveness in its assessment of the call for metropolitan cooperation , considers the development of the UHA, like other universities in the Rhine-Rhone , will remain limited if no link is created within this space.

The University of Haute-Alsace is one of two universities Alsatian, the other being the University of Strasbourg which is located in the northern region.

The name of Haute-Alsace is the subdivision south of the ancient historic province of Alsace. The term is still used in Germanic countries. Haute-Alsace corresponds roughly to the current departments of Haut-Rhin and the Territoire de Belfort.
