The University of French Polynesia is a university French located Punaauia in French Polynesia.

Summary

History

History

Created by decree on 29 May 1987 , the university was originally called French University of the Pacific and was split between two sites, one located in New Caledonia (now University of New Caledonia ) and the other in Tahiti. The headquarters of the university is to Papeete. Both centers have become autonomous institutions in 1999 (Decree No. 99-445 of 31 May 1999).

The University of French Polynesia, a public scientific, cultural and professional , is based in Outumaoro on the common Punaauia, Tahiti. This new university is a university strong 20 years of teaching and research. The number of students is growing steadily, with a significant increase over 60% of its workforce since 1999, and the range of its training. The University of French Polynesia has often made the local papers, especially through the operations it conducts through its proactive policy for the employability of its graduates. Two actions can be cited: the forum Students / Companies and Sponsorship majors promotion by private companies.

Campus

Covering an area of over 12 hectares, including more than 15,000 sqm of buildings, University Campus Outumaoro includes:

  • academic buildings (classrooms, halls TP, auditoriums);
  • research laboratories;
  • meeting rooms, video rooms, computer rooms, language laboratory;
  • a university library with approximately 45,000 books, 257 magazine subscriptions, videos and DVDs (over 800 titles), CD-Rom and an online electronic documentation (databases, texts, periodicals) ;
  • a university campus which hosts 72 rooms including young remote islands;
  • a canteen and a cafeteria to allow students to have lunch there;
  • a sports hall: there are organized sports lessons and competitions;
  • a climbing wall, unique facility in French Polynesia.
