Al Akhawayn University ( Arabic : which literally means reference to King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and King Hassan II of Morocco ) is a public higher education institution and scientific research located Ifrane , Middle Atlas Mountains, 60km from the imperial city of Fez. The creation of the University was funded by the Saudi King who offered to King Hassan II a significant allocation for the remediation of an oil spill off the coast of Morocco. However, cleaning has never been realized because the wind blew the oil slick off the coast and the endowment was used to create the University. Al Akhawayn University was founded by Royal Decree (Dahir) in 1993 and officially inaugurated by the former King of Morocco, Hassan II, January 16, 1995.

Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane is a public university, independent, nonprofit, joint commitment to train future civic elites, Morocco and elsewhere across the curriculum "Liberal Arts in English directed toward the International, and based on the American educational system. The University aims to promote national and international development through scientific research and academic programs, including continuing education and staff training; adheres to the highest academic and ethical standards, and defends the values of justice and responsibility social.
Education
With about 1,700 full-time students residing and studying in a campus located in the town of Ifrane in the Middle Atlas , Al Akhawayn offers a number of options for Bachelor and Master in humanities and social sciences, and engineering and business administration - all defined by the common university (UCC) based on the American system of liberal arts.
The full instruction is in English language through three faculties affiliated to the university. However, some courses in French and / or Arabic must necessarily be followed by students. Recently, the University opted for a French test (EFT) for new students to judge whether they should receive tuition in that language.
To enable deserving students to enroll in this faculty, the university provides grants and over 30% of students are either equity or loan recipients See also Related articles
