True Russian Orthodox Church is one of many churches Orthodox noncanonical, traditionalists Russia after the " Church of the Catacombs "(illegal and opposed to the Church after the Bolshevik Revolution ).
She held publicly in the 1990s with the assistance of the Russian Orthodox Church outside borders before parting in 2000.
The current primate of the Church is the Archbishop Tikhon of Omsk and Siberia (since 2005 ).

Biography of Archbishop Lazarus
Lazarus (born Fedir Zhurbenko in 1931 ) was a leading figure of the "orthodox alternative" in Russia. He joined the Church of the catacombs (underground), was arrested in 1950 and spent five years in Soviet camps. He secretly ordained priest in 1971 , bishop of the Church of the catacombs in 1982 , archbishop in 1991. Conflict with the Russian Orthodox Church outside borders , he proclaimed the autonomy of the Church in 1993 and again in 2000 after a period of unity. In 2002 , he established the Synod hierarchy.
