Timothy Of Ephesus
Timothy was a companion of the Apostle Paul of Tarsus. During his missionary journeys, Paul had established bishop of Ephesus. It is a holy Christian celebrated Jan. 26 in the West and 22 January in the East (also attested: February 18 ).
The name Timothy means "God-fearing. "
History and tradition
Timothy, whom Paul calls his "true son in the faith, was born in Asia Minor a Greek father and a Jewish mother. Converted during Paul's first mission, he becomes his disciple and loyal collaborator. For the acceptance of Jews and Jewish Christians, Paul circumcised. Timothy shares the first captivity of Paul during his second captivity, still want him. According to tradition, died Timothy Bishop of Ephesus.
Timothy is considered a saint by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church who celebrate on different dates. The Church in the West celebrates 26 January with Titus as followers of dear Paul of Tarsus , which gives them the episcopal office in the early Church.
