Timna National Park is a national park in the Negev in Israel , in a valley-shaped iron horse-shoe with an area of 60 square kilometers, located 25 km north of Eilat , on the edge of Route 90. The valley is crossed by the Israel National Trail (in) , the hiking trail that runs from coast to coast.

The site also contains the oldest known copper mines in the world (over 6000 years).
Archaeological remains
The major archaeological discoveries at the site were made by the Arava Expedition led by Professor Beno Rothenberg in 1959. One can admire rock carvings representing tanks and the ruins of an Egyptian temple built in the XIV century BC, in honor of the goddess Hathor , carved in stone, who was the patron deity of minors. It was transformed by the Midianites in the twelfth centuryBC. AD, in a tent-like sanctuary in Tabernacle Bible (Ex.40 :16-21). We have found a statuette in the shape of a snake, copper head with a golden evokes the brazen serpent, called Nehushtan , made by Moses (Numbers 21.9). The stepfather of Moses, Jethro, priest of Midian, and he had a proven influence on Moses in the biblical text (see Torah portion Yitro ).

A replica of the tabernacle made in 1986 in Germany was installed in 1999 (at 2000).
Other attractions
Other arrangements have been made on the site in the late 1980s, in particular an artificial lake created by the JNF in 1986, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Avrum Chudnow z "l Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The visitor center offers a 360 multimedia presentation entitled "Mines of Time."
