Tiberius Ii Constantine
Tiberius II Constantine ( 540 - 582 ) was Emperor Byzantine from 578 to 582. It belongs to the Justinian dynasty.
Tiberius manages to intrude on or close to power through Sophie, wife of Justin II , who made his adopted son. It is elevated to Caesar 7 December 574 and then begins to exercise the executive functions of the state because of the madness that touches the emperor. Named Auguste on 26 September 578 , he became sole emperor on October 5 and took the name of Constantine. During his short reign, Tiberius II is of great liberality in granting generous tax cuts that worsen the finances of the empire but earned him great popularity.
On the military side of the successes he won the Persians in Armenia , but had to give Sirmium the Avars in 581. So it it is not possible to prevent the tribes Slavs from entering Thessaly and Thrace.
He died (poisoned or indigestion?) On 14 August 582 , a few days after officially designated his son Maurice , husband of his daughter Constantina as his successor, giving him the title of Caesar.
