The Ten Commandments is a musical comedy written by Elie Chouraqui and Pascal Obispo , whose first performance took place in Paris in October 2000.

Synopsis
Seti , then Pharaoh in Egypt , takes a dim view of expanding people's Hebrew. He decided to reduce it to slavery. Following a prediction , he decided to kill all the firstborn Hebrew. The order is issued, the massacre took place.
A young mother who has just given birth, trying to conceal his firstborn son. She is Jewish and is called Yocheved. Stress, she decides to get rid of her child in the hope of saving his life. She puts it in a wicker cradle it leaves to the divine along the River. The heart of Yocheved torn.
Bithia , the sister of Pharaoh, can not have children and hopes the favor of the gods. His wish s'exauce. Along the Nile or she bathes, she saw the basket and discovered the child. She did not resist and decided to save and take to the son. She calls him Moses which in Egyptian means "saved water". She begs her brother Seti to grant the adoption. Seti, who is unaware that he is a Hebrew, agrees. Rameses, the son of Pharaoh and Moses grow together as equals.
Nefertari is of royal blood as Ramses. She, Moses and Rameses know since childhood. Nefertari is in love with Moses and hopes to marry her, but on the other hand, she realizes that will be the future pharaoh Ramses and it will bend itself to his rank by marrying: the heart of Nefertari is tortured between the love she has for Moses and his duty to submit to a marriage of convenience.
Moses grew up, went to his brethren, and looked on their burdens. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brothers. He looked side to side, and seeing that there was no one he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.
He left the next day, behold, two Hebrews quarreling. He said to him that was wrong: Why are you hitting your neighbor?
And this man said, "Who made you ruler and judge over us? Do you kill me as you killed the Egyptian? Moses was afraid and said, Surely the thing is known. Pharaoh heard what had happened, and he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian, where he stopped near a well.
The conviction of Moses made a great noise, four women mourn his exile: Yocheved who loses all hope of seeing her son, Bithia who raised, Nefertari is deeply in love with him and his sister Miriam. Pharaoh suffers from the absence of Moses and feels terrible remorse, he is very ill and eventually makes his last breath without seeing Moses. His son Rameses succeeds him once already and organizes his future life.
After wandering in the desert, Moses reached a tight oasis. Not far away, there is a well to which he heads. It comes at a time when young girls are annoyed by the nomads of passage. Despite the exhaustion, fatigue Moses finds the strength to defend them and goes to fetch the water for her. To thank him for his generosity, the women invite Moses in the tent of their father who welcomes him with open arms.
Jethro , the patriarch who has only daughters, adopted Moses in his clan and he offers to marry one of his daughters. Moses moved agrees to marry the eldest.
Two marriages are made simultaneously, that of Moses and Zipporah in nomadic country and that of Ramses and Nefertari in Egypt.
Moses became a shepherd grazes his flock on Mount Horeb. But that day something happens! Then he sees a burning bush , a voice is heard is that of God. He ordered him to remove the Hebrews from Egypt and lead them to another land farther east. Moses can not escape God's hand and then to execute the will of God.
Ramses reign as tyrant , but soon he will be confronted with Moses, the messenger of God. The people who like Moses argues, but Ramses has a powerful army. Moses warned Rameses places and ordered him to liberate his people. But Rameses not care, he defies the threat Moses. Thus begins a struggle between two men: the power of God against the powers of Egypt.
Moses Ramses ads that plagues descend upon the Kingdom of Egypt, including the death of the first born Egyptians. The young son of Ramses and Nefertari dies. Vanquished, then left Rameses Moses and his people go.
The Hebrews are now freed from the conditions of their slaves. Yocheved, Bithia, Miriam and Aaron's brother Moses accompany it, and Joshua that Moses loves like a son. But there are still obstacles to overcome! Before the Red Sea , Moses asks God to enable them to cross. The miracle occurs, Moses using his staff dismisses waters. The Egyptian soldiers were ordered to kill Moses but the waters are closed to them: the Egyptian and are arrested by the hand of God.
Moses went to the mountain of God. God speaks to him again. Transfiguration , Moses brings the two tablets of the law, that of the Ten Commandments. But when it descends from the mountain his brothers took over the old Egyptian cult. Moses brings them back to reason and cites the 10 Commandments.
