Ten Commandments Alternative

The Ten Commandments are alternative alternatives to Ten Commandments of the Bible. Several variations were created, and there is no consensus on a single version. An alternative to the Ten Commandments has been recently popularized by Richard Dawkins in his book The God Delusion.

The alternative to the Ten Commandments mentioned by Dawkins in The God Delusion is:

1. Proclaim the natural dignity and inherent worth of all human beings.
2. Respect the life and property of others.
3. Practice tolerance and openness to the choices and lifestyles of others.
4. Share with those less fortunate and help those in need.
5. Do not use lies or spiritual doctrine, nor temporal power to dominate and exploit others.
6. Rely on reason, logic and science to understand the universe and solve the problems of life.
7. Conserve and enhance the natural terrestrial environment, soil, water, air and space as common heritage of mankind.
8. Resolve differences and conflicts cooperatively without resorting to violence or war.
9. Organize public affairs according to individual freedom and responsibility, through political and economic democracy.
10. Develop his intellect and talents through education and effort.
