The Tel Aviv University (TAU , ") is one of the leading universities Israel.
Attached first to the Municipality of Tel Aviv , Tel Aviv University was founded on 6 June 1956 from the merger of the School of Law and Economics from Tel Aviv, Institute of Science natural (based on 1December 1953 ) and the Institute of Jewish Studies. It became autonomous in 1963 , and its campus, located in Ramat Aviv in the residential area of the northern suburbs of Tel Aviv , was inaugurated on 4 November 1963.
The Tel Aviv University has 9 faculties, 106 departments and 90 research institutes. It forges contacts with Jewish communities in the Diaspora, international , offering programs of Jewish studies for students and teachers in the United States , of France , from Brazil , from Argentina or Mexico.
