The synagogue of Luneville . Built at the initiative of the trustee of the Jews of Luneville, Abraham Isaac Brisac by architect Charles Augustin Piroux , it looks more like a house of Louis XVI to the synagogue because it is not decorated with Jewish symbols. She is now back from the street with good clearance but when it was built, she stood behind a house to meet the demands of secrecy of royal power, which merely tolerate such a building in a kingdom generally forbidden to Jews.
Two years later, in 1788, was inaugurated as the synagogue of Nancy.
The facade is inscribed in French : the God of Israel, by permission of the King of France, in the year 1786, now replaced by one in Hebrew : - (You did, however, Lord my God, prayers and supplications of thy servant - Kings 8:28).
The synagogue is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 15 July 1980 .
