Shams Al Daula

Shams-o dowleh is the second son of Fakhr al-Daula 'Ali. At the death of his father, he became emir Buyid of Hamadan in 977 until his death in 1021. His son Sama 'al-Daula succeeded him.

Biography

Fakhr al-Daula died in October / November 997 . His eldest son Rustam is only four years. He becomes the reigning sovereign Ray and received the title of Majd al-Daula (Glory of the Empire). The younger, Abu Tahir, the ruler becomes the title of Hamadan with the title of Shams ad-Dawla (Sun of the Empire). Both children are under the guardianship of their mother Sayyida who has served as regent. Each son declares independence and assumes the title of "king of kings . Shams ad-Dawla waives this title in 1009 or 1010 to recognize the suzerainty of Baha 'ad-Dawla Firuz Buyid emir of Fars and the Iraq.

In 1006 or 1007 , Majd al-Daula trying to get rid of the guardianship of his mother with the help of his vizier Abu 'Ali ibn' Ali. Sayyida fled and took refuge with the chief Kurdish hassanwahide Badr bin Hasanya. She joins forces with Shams al-Daula to the seat of Ray. After a few battles, Ray was taken, Majd al-Daula was imprisoned. Sayyida encloses Majd al-Daula in the fortress of Tabarok while Shams ad-Dawla moved to Ray. After a year Majd al-Daula is released, he returned to Ray where he keeps away from political intrigue and remains under the thumb of his mother. Shams ad-Dawla leaves for Hamadan.

Around 1012 , Avicenna reached Hamadan where Shams ad-Dawla chose him as vizier. He needed when a program of backbreaking work: the day, he devoted himself to public affairs, science night.

Around 1013 , after the death of Badr bin Hasanya, Shams ad-Dawla is part of the territory he headed. Shams ad-Dawla then tried to take the place of his brother but his mother Sayyida Ray objected.

Shams al-Daula died in 1021 , his son Sama 'al-Daula succeeded him. Avicenna is the victim of political intrigues. He knows the prison. Disguised as a dervish, he managed to escape and fled to Isfahan , to the Emir kakouyide `Ala 'ad-Dawla Muhammad.
