Shahadah

The shahada or shahada (shahada or shahadat) ( Arabic : Description

It is for the believer , by knowingly and without coercion, to accept and proclaim two things: act of worship must be directed only to God alone, and Muhammad is the messenger of God, and why should be followed. Similarly, the certificate "that Muhammad is the messenger of God" implies absolute monitoring of the messenger of God. In short, every act must be done sincerely for God, as it must be in conformity and consistent with the teachings of Muhammad.

The formula Arabic La ilaha illa-llh contains an implied. The word ilah means a deity that people worship (alaha verb "worship"). The word refers to a deity who is considered to be adored, rightly or wrongly as the Koran speaks of lihah (ilah plural) to refer to the deities of the polytheists. We can therefore assume that La ilaha illa-llh says the lack of other lihah, but the illegitimacy of the cult dedicated to them.

Thus, as noted by several scholars , La ilaha illa-llh The mean ma'bda bih'aqqin llh-illa, "no one is legitimately worshiped but God."

Usually, this formula is recited in the right ear of newborns, then accompanies every Muslim during his life and is finally delivered one last time at the bedside of the dying. A hadith would consider even a person whose last word is the profession of faith (by applying the conditions) in paradise as promised.

As part of an introduction to Islam, we must learn the shahada, first in his native language and Arabic, and the ablutions required for a decision. Then, reciting in Arabic the profession of faith with the intention to embrace the Islam , understanding and accepting the meaning of this religion and what it implies.

Proclaim that God is unique was a reaction to the many polytheistic religions known as Mecca in the seventh century , but also to the concept of the Trinity of Christianity, that Mohammed regarded as a disguised polytheism ( shirk ).

So believe in Allah and His messengers.
And do not say "Three";
Stop! It will be better for you.
Allah is One God.
He is too glorious to have a child.
The Koran (IV 171)

Recite sincerely is not enough to lead the believer to the end of his life. She does that leave his reprobate condition, that is to say a sinner by God excluded the number of elected officials.

To win the Paradise , the Muslim must also respect the other four pillars or canonical obligations prescribed by the Koran. However, God can forgive those who leave some pillars (except by some to the salat or zakat ) provided that they recognize an obligation to them.

The word shahada is closer to the word Arab shaheed means "witness" as the Greek word Conditions of the Shahadah

The profession of faith, to be accepted, requires certain basic conditions:

  • Knowledge of its meaning
  • Sincerity in its pronunciation and its application
  • The certainty in her
  • The acceptance of this phrase
  • Total submission to what it means
  • Rejection and abandonment of all forms of associationism
  • The love of this certificate
  • Disbelief in the creeds, acts or words canceling the latter

The shahada in the Qur'an

The shahada is not formalized as such in the Qur'an. Several verses expose its contents. Its beginning is clearly in Chapter (Sura) 37, verse 35 which means: "When they were told:" There is no god but God ", they swelled with pride, etc.." It may be added to Chapter 4, verse 136 which means: "Believe in God and His Prophet, the Book which He revealed to His Prophet, the Book which He revealed before. Whoever does not believe in God, his angels, His books, His prophets and the Last Day, is a profound error. "

There are other verses, eg Chapter 49, verse 15 which means:

"The believers are only those who believe in Allah and His Messenger, then doubt not .... "

Chapter 7 verse 158 which means:

"Say (O Muhammad):" O men! I am to you all as the Messenger of God, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. No god but him. He gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet who believes in God and his words. And follow him so that you may be guided. "

Chapter 3 verse 18:

"God bears witness, and also the angels and those endued with knowledge, that there is no god but He, the maintainer of justice. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise! "

Note that the oath of the woman who believes in the Koran is much more demanding and precise as the shahada: Chapter 60, verse 12: "O Prophet, When believing women come to you swear allegiance External Links
