Sandales Du Christ
The Sandals of Christ - or rather fragments of sandals ("Partikel der sandalen") - are among the relics of the most important medieval.
The relic appears at the coronation of Pepin the Short by Pope Stephen II and the founding of the Papal States ( donation of Pepin ).
Pepin will return the sandals to his kingdom and donates, and a vast land, to the abbey of Prum in the Eifel , created thirty years ago. This abbey became one of the most important of the Carolingian Empire and the church became known as Saint-Sauveur.
To compete with the Abbey of Prm , it was prestigious to have a relic. In the twelfth century, is what made Trier by exposing a Holy Robe , origin, however, very doubtful, but most dramatic in the eyes of the faithful.
The fight lasted five centuries of supremacy. In 1524 occurred the first procession of pilgrims to the Holy Tunic of Trier. In 1574, Prm lost its independence vis--vis the former Roman capital.
The Sandals of Christ are still venerated in the Basilica of religious Prm.
