Salty (in Arabic : ) is a city in Morocco. It is located on the coast Atlantic the country on the right bank of the mouth of Bouregreg , opposite Rabat. It is bounded on the east by Khemisset province, south of the prefecture of Rabat, on the west by the Atlantic Ocean and north by the province of Kenitra. Residents of Salt called Slaoui or even Ahl-Sala in Arabic , while in French they are known to Saltin (e) s.

Salt is in the region of Rabat-Sal-Zemmour-Zar and now has 903,485 inhabitants, making it the second most populous city in Morocco after Casablanca. Salt was once an autonomous republic and self-managed international in scope.

Salt City is named Wadi Sala, "Salt River" designation of the river Bouregreg until XIII century.

Summary

History

Politics

Salted acquired his title of nobility during the French protectorate. During the decades preceding independence of Morocco, the city was the stronghold of national resistance movements. Climate

Development of the Valley Bouregreg

A large project management and development of the valley of Bouregreg was launched in 2006. The latter amounting to 30 billion dirhams aims to significantly reshape the two river banks. This project should enable the city of Sal to know an important term economic development.

A marina was opened March 15, 2008 in this context .

Tramway Rabat Sal

Tramway Rabat-Sal is a long term project which foresees the creation of a network of tram lines including 4 with two crossings of the River Bouregreg .

The tramway network in 2010 consists of two lines

  • Line 1: so-called "line structuring of the city, extends the Hay Karima in Sale to the district of Agdal, with a shift in the center of Al Rabat Avenue Alaouiyine.

It connects the poles and transmitters / attractors major urban area: Avenue Mohammed V in Sale, near the ministries, stations ONCF (Rabat-Sal city), schools and libraries between Bab Ruach and Ibn Zuhr, district of Agdal, and finally, the University of Bab Al Irfane and hospital Souissi.
