Salim Mawla Abi Hudhayfa

Salim Mawla Abi Hudhayfa ( Arabic : ) or Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfa was a companion of Muhammad , the prophet of Islam. It was so called because he was a slave before that Hudhayfa ibn Abu Utba , not postage and adopt it as a foster son, back when they were not Muslim. Nobody knew his real father :

  1. the parentage of the child shall be unknown;
  2. the age difference between adoptive parent and the child must be significant;
  3. when the child reaches majority and is able to do so, he must accept the declaration of parentage.

Abu Salim Hudhayfa married with Fatima bint al-Walid, the daughter of his brother al-Walid ibn `Utba.

When Muslims stayed in Quba, a town near Medina , Salim led the prayer. It was one of the four companions with whom Muhammad strongly recommended to learn the Koran . He also had a good reputation for his frankness when he spoke. When Khalid ibn al-Walid hastened to leave the sword in a dispatch sent by Muhammad Salim intervened and condemned his actions. When Muhammad was informed, he disavowed his gesture and asked if anyone did not attempt to stop him and was told that was the case of Salim .

He participated in the war of Al-Yamama (en) in 632 cons Musaylima said "al-Kadhdhab" (liar) as standard-bearer instead of Zayd ibn al-Khattab as it was killed. Abu Hudhayfa and he had promised to fight valiantly until martyrdom if necessary. While the Muslims were afraid it is too low or too afraid to battle, he displayed a courage and unexpectedly declared: "If you can push myself, what a miserable Hafiz of Qur'an I ! " until he lost a first arm, then another and he fell mortally wounded. The Muslims emerged victorious from the battle but took heavy losses. The survivors who took care of the dead and wounded who found Salim asked them news of Abu Hudhayfa and replied that he had fallen martyr ( shaheed ) right next to him. He asked to be buried next to him . ` Umar ibn al-Khattab said before he died that if Salim was still alive, he would have designated as his successor .
