Saint Rambert L39Le Barbe
Saint-Rambert-l'le-Barbe is a former municipality annexed to the 5th arrondissement of Lyon by the decree of 1 August 1963. This area is part of the 9th district since the inception of the latter by the decree of 12 August 1964. This is one of the last neighborhoods Village of Lyons, who is still home to farmers, artisans, etc.. There are also several places to relax on the landscaped banks of the Saone. You can access the island by Barbe a bridge over the Saone. One of the pillars of the bridge rests in the garden of the island. (See Bridges of Lyon )
The area includes the le Barbe , located amidst the Sane and on which an abbey was founded in the fifth century. Repeatedly plundered the monastery came under the order of the Benedictines and gains in power, before finally being destroyed by Protestants in the sixteenth century. Nowadays, only the church Romanesque Notre Dame remains, and that part of the island can be visited is a lovely green island with a few old houses and remains of religious buildings.
