The Russian Orthodox Church outside boundaries or Russian Orthodox Church Abroad Russian Orthodox is a court which separated from the Patriarchate of Moscow and All Russia at the time of the Bolshevik revolution in Russia. Eucharistic communion and canonical unity were restored in Moscow on 17 May 2007 , the day of the Ascension of the Lord. This church was split in two, there is another Russian Church Outside Russia, Metropolitan Vitaly has been the leader at the time of the break and now she follows Bishop Vladimir.
The head of the church (First Hierarch) bears the title of Metropolitan , with residence in New York. The present incumbent is Bishop Hilarion Kapral (since May 12, 2008).

Discussions with the Moscow Patriarchate from 2000 , then the act of restoration of communion in 2007 , have caused several opposition movements, both in Russia and the Russian diaspora. Opponents have created several new courts:

Relations with the Russian Orthodox Church
On May 17, 2007 Patriarch Alexy II and Metropolitan Laur signed at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow Act reestablishing canonical unity of the Russian Orthodox Church.
