The Russian Orthodox Church in Exile is a non-canonical Orthodox Church was born of a schism of the Russian Orthodox Church outside borders in 2001. The head of the Church carries the title of Metropolitan, with residence in Montreal in Canada (current holder: Vacant; His Beatitude Vitaly (Ustinov), died on 25 September 2006 ).

The former primate of the Russian Orthodox Church outside borders , Archbishop Vitaly, retired, takes the lead opponents of rapprochement with the Moscow Patriarchate and became the Primate of the Russian Church in exile in November 2001.
