Remi Brague, born 8 September 1947 in Paris, is a writer, philosopher , scholar, specialist in medieval philosophy Arab and Jewish, and connoisseur of Greek philosophy. He taught Greek philosophy, Roman and Arabic at the University of Paris I Panthon-Sorbonne and at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitt in Munich. He is a member of the Institute.

It has been known for his work in Europe, the Roman road and for his essays on the Christian religion. His current research within the history of ideas in the very long term and the comparison between Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

Student at the Ecole Normale Suprieure in the Rue d'Ulm in 1967 , he became professor of Philosophy in 1971 , then defended his doctoral thesis in 1976 under the leadership of Pierre Aubenque. Professor at the University of Paris I Panthon-Sorbonne, where he directs the research center "tradition of classical thought," Remi Brague also teaches at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitt Munich (Germany), where he held the chair Romano Guardini ; he teaches the history of Christianity European. It was also John Findlay Visiting Professor at the University of Boston (United States). His area of study is significant: although officially specialist philosophies medieval Jewish and Arab , he first worked on the Greek philosophy , primarily on Plato , then Aristotle. His thesis 3rd cycle was on the Meno of Plato (published as the rest). His doctoral thesis is a state study on the concept of world in Aristotle. It then turned his research on medieval Arabic, Jewish and Latin. He has published on St. Bernard , Razi and Maimonides. Rmi Brague is also a commentator on the work of Heidegger and a fine player Leo Strauss.

He was elected to the Academy of Moral and Political Science 7 December 2009 the Chair of Jean-Marie Zemb.

Rmi Brague is polyglot: he speaks French, German, English and Spanish and his area of expertise includes ancient Greek, Latin, Arabic and medieval Hebrew.
