Reuben Bible

Ruben Reuven or (in Hebrew : ) is the eldest son of the patriarch Hebrew Jacob and Leah in the narrative of Genesis.

Ruben advises his brothers not to kill Joseph they are jealous, but rather to throw into a well. It proposes to protect Benjamin when viceroy of Egypt (in fact, Joseph) requires him to come to him. Jacob refuses to entrust Benjamin Ruben.

Although the elder, he fails to be the leader among his brothers. Jacob resents having almost incestuous relationship with Bilhah , one of the wives of his father. (This is not explicitly stated in the text of Genesis 35:22 and 49:3-4).

Ruben is also known to be the ancestor of the tribe of Reuben, who settled in the Mishor.

An old Arab tradition sees the tomb located in the dunes of Palmachim Ruben's grave and calls it "Nebi Rubin. The site was the subject of a pilgrimage by the Arabs. It is now abandoned, but it nevertheless received visitors Jews who come to pray, even if Jewish tradition generally places the grave of Reuben in Galilee.
