Psalms Of Solomon
The title at the beginning and end of the manuscripts attributed to the work Solomon (Bible) model of Wisdom. Each psalm except the first is preceded by a subscription which repeats this award. The Psalms of Solomon refers to the taking of Jerusalem by Pompey in 63 BC and probably the death of Pompey in 48 BC They have been written after this period. The author is unknown but with allusions to the psalms against the Pharisees and cons of the Sadducees is assumed that the author represented the community of Essenes who lived in Jerusalem in the first century after Flavius Josephus. The main themes are the critical sacrificial cult , the pitfalls of women , "the Messenger" , mentioned by Isaiah , a Jewish legend that the announcement came at the end of time, and expectation of the Son of David by those who love the Lord . These psalms are known only from the seventeenth century by an edition of La Cerda's Codex Vindobonensis. Since then, eleven Greek manuscripts of the tenth to the sixteenth century , were found. The Psalms of Solomon are mentioned in the table of contents of Codex Alexandrinus ( fifth century ), but does not appear in the body of the manuscript. In the early twentieth century , Syriac manuscripts translated from Greek have been found. But the original Hebrew, as researchers try to reconstruct, is still missing. This book appears in the Septuagint but not in the writings Masoretic. it is not part of the canon of Hebrew Scriptures nor the canon Catholic.
