Psalm 91

Psalm 91, commonly referred to as Yoshev Bessette in Hebrew and Qui habitat in Latin , is known as the Psalm of Protection. It is possible, according to AJ Kolatch, it has been used in ancient times to make real " exorcisms ".
It is associated with severe circumstances, including the mourning in both Judaism than in Christianity , which made him very popular in works of fiction.
In Anglophone countries, it is often sung at the Office of Compline , in translation after the Scottish Psalter.

Its author is not named. As there are elements present in the Pentateuch , and the previous psalm (# 90) is attributed to Moses , tradition tends to assign one too. That is certainly the opinion of the famous commentator of the Hebrew Bible , Rashi , whose work has inspired to Martin Luther.
Rashi's commentary (translated from English, not Hebrew) on Psalm 91 is reproduced here, in comment of the French translation of the text.
