Prenatal diagnosis (PND) is a set of medical practices designed to detect in the embryo or fetus a serious condition.

The Act of July 29, 1994 states that "prenatal diagnosis is to a diagnostic or therapeutic intervention on the embryo or fetus. It may not have intended that prevent or treat a condition of particular gravity, in the interests of the unborn. "
