Prayer is an act and sometimes an attitude, to maintain a sense of union with God Buddhist Prayer In Buddhism, as well as in the Theravada Buddhism which nowadays is the closest in Buddhism or Zen , monks do not pray and prayer is meaningless (because of the impersonality of beings) outside a devotional practice left to the common people.
