The Annuario Pontificio (French is published each year in Italy under this name since 1912 by the authorities of the Roman Catholic Church. It is, however, due to various publications informal, semi-official or official of the same type that carried different names since the eighteenth century.

This directory contains a list and details of all the dignitaries and institutions of the Roman Catholic Church. It identifies both those who occupy official positions in church government that holders of all dioceses and any other entity of the territorial organization of the Church worldwide.

The Annuario Pontificio present in the first pages a list of Popes from St. Peter to the current pope. Although the Annuario Pontificio declares itself more since 1924 as an official publication, the list is based on de facto official list of popes of the Roman Catholic Church Notes
