Summary |
The Pontificia Commissio de Re Biblica (literally Pontifical Commission for Biblical Affairs) was founded October 30, 1902 by Leo XIII The first secretary was Cardinal Mariano Rampolla del Tindaro until 1908. He had spent his entire career in diplomacy and administration Vatican. Pius X gives him the right to confer academic degrees license and doctorate in biblical sciences (in re biblica) this academic position after having been managed with the help of teachers at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (GDP) Rome. Leo XIII and Pius X had urged the commission to compete in particular issues arising within the framework of modernism : between 13 February 1905 and 17 November 1921 , 14 decrees (or decisions) and 2 reports in the form of answers to questions or doubts have been published . Under Pius XI (until 30 April 1934 ) were published two decrees. On 27 June 1971 , as part of the post-conciliar reform, Paul VI provided new rules for the organization of the Commission, which was also renamed as the current title Pontifical Biblical Commission (Pontifical Biblical Commission). The main change was that members would no longer be assisted by counsel of the cardinals, but science teachers from various schools of biblical and regions of the world, chosen for their skill, their caution and their respect for the Magisterium (art. 3). Because of its composition, the commission is now an advisory body serving the Magisterium and attached to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (cf. art. 1), Cardinal Prefect is also chairman of that committee. The documents provided during this period are on a more disciplinary theoretical as shown the following list. Activities
