In the social sciences, pluralism is a political organization that recognizes and accepts the diversity of opinions and their representatives.

Pluralism as a principle of social organization is characterized as follows :

  1. The permeability of borders, promotion of trade, free movement of people, ideas, etc..
  2. Favorably with respect to the principle of change.
  3. The company defines itself by reciprocity between individual initiative and the collective safeguarding of values.
  4. Freedom of the individual is the supreme value.
  5. Private ownership is an essential support to the expression of the individual.
  6. the rule of law should be neither too strong nor too weak.
  7. There is acceptance of the persistence of tensions and conflicts .
  8. There is a recognition and respect for differences.
  9. We see an ideal of a balance of power relations.

On a personal level, pluralism is based on the idea of a plural identity, pluralism of the "me": every individual must be conceived through a prism that has various facets. Each person has more than one profile. It will defend the idea that painters Cubist , for example, which Picasso first and foremost.
