Pierre Lory

Pierre Lory is director of of the French Institute of Middle East and Director of Studies at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of the History of Religions and the Journal of the History of Sufism.

Pierre Lory gets its aggregation in 1977 (Arabic Language and Literature, National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations and University of Paris III ). Editor Roger Arnaldez , he specialized in Islamic studies in 1976 and mysticism. Fellow "Research Fellow" at the Iranian Academy of Philosophy in Tehran, academic year 1978-79 (with the help of Henry Corbin ), he argues in 1981 a Ph.D. degree in 3 Arab Civilization at the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris III. He is resident scholar at the French Institute of Arab Studies of Damascus (including Marc Berg is also resident) in the 1987-1988 school year.
