Philemon ( first century ) is a saint of the Catholic Church , celebrated on November 22.
History and tradition
Rich inhabitant of Colosse ( Asia Minor ), Philemon is an influential member of the Church founded by local St. Paul. The latter sent him a brief epistle of 25 verses , the Epistle to Philemon , written from his prison in Rome , asking him to give sympathetic slave Onesimus. The latter, who stole Philemon was converted by Paul and returned repentant to his master.
