Palm Islands is a project of creation of three artificial islands in the Persian Gulf off the coast of the emirate of Dubai , the UAE. Each of the islands has a shape reminiscent of the palm. Hotel complexes, tourist resorts and are provided on each site. Detached houses are also available for wealthy clients.
The construction is very simple: the sand is dredged the bottom of the Persian Gulf and redeposited in the appropriate places to create the islands. These are entirely in sand, few rocks mainly outside the crescent-shaped dikes that are made to counter the wave.
The plans of the three palm trees had to be modified, sometimes after construction in the case of Palm Jumeirah and sometimes on numerous occasions in the case of Palm Deira. Indeed manufacturers, squeezed, did not wait for the engineers' report of the Netherlands who had been solicited for their experiences on land reclaimed from the sea The report noted in particular that the tide was not sufficient to inside croissants to ensure renewal of water between the fins, which may transform into lagoons dens to mosquito invasion of algae. Passes were then arranged at strategic locations in increasing order to allow total renewal of water every two weeks through the natural action of the tides.
