The Chaillot Palace is situated on the hill of Chaillot in Paris , in the 16th district , Place du Trocadero-et-du-11-Nov. It was directed at the Universal Exhibition of 1937 by the architects and the Rome Grand Prix Lon Azema , Jacques Carlu and Louis-Hippolyte Boileau , instead of the old Palais du Trocadro.

Before the Palais de Chaillot
The Convent of the Visitation since 1651 which was on the hill of Chaillot was destroyed after the Revolution. The esplanade vacuum that resulted from the destruction provoked many projects that went nowhere, before being carried out in 1878 the old Palais du Trocadro.
The palace of the King of Rome
The palace of the King of Rome is a building designed by the Emperor Napoleon I to be the residence of his son. It was to be built on the hill of Chaillot and be the center of an imperial city administrative and military. In February 1811 that Napoleon decided to build this building and he decided to baptize the King's Palace in Rome since before the birth of his son , . These are the architects Charles Percier and Pierre-Francois-Leonard Fontaine , who were responsible for its implementation.
The villa Trocadero
The "villa Trocadero" contemplated by Antoine Marie Peyre in 1824 is a real estate project centered on a semi-circular giving buyers the choice of the architecture . The name "Trocadero" evokes the victory of the Duke of Angouleme at the Trocadero Box at the Spanish expedition of 1823.
The tomb of Napoleon I.
In 1839, Camille Moret conceived a project falls of Napoleon I on the hill of Chaillot in 1841, Hector Horeau proposed to erect a colossal statue of Napoleon by 30 m in height .
Projects of Anthony tex and Hector Horeau
The sculptor Antony tex , which proposed in 1848 a monument to freedom , in 1858, wanted a "lighthouse or monumental fountain" in the center of a circular plaza welcoming the imperial palace and hotel departments . In 1868, Hector Horeau proposes a new project envisaging a colossal statue of "intelligent France Enlightening the World" . But none of this was not done.
The old Palais du Trocadro
The old Palais du Trocadro was built for the Universal Exhibition of 1878 in terms of the architects Gabriel Davioud and Jules Bourdais , with gardens of the engineer Alphand. At the Universal Exhibition of 1937 , the building was destroyed and replaced by the Palais de Chaillot, which kept a part of the framework and the configuration of two wings in half-circles.
The Palais de Chaillot in its west wing hosts the Muse de l'Homme and the Muse de la Marine. The City of Architecture and Heritage (formerly the National Museum of French Monuments) is located in the east wing. From 1963 to 2005, the French Cinematheque and the Film Museum were installed before they moved into the district of Bercy.
Architecture of the Palais de Chaillot
The Chaillot Palace is composed of two pavilions and two curved wings identifying a central vacuum (the Plaza of Human Rights ) and down towards the Seine. Between the two wings "Passy" and "Paris", the Trocadero gardens overlooking the view of the Eiffel Tower and the Champ de Mars.
The entire building is characterized by abundant statuary due, among others, artists Paul Belmondo , Leo-Ernest Drivier and Marcel Gimond. The two pavilions are surmounted by monumental sculptures carved by Raymond Delamarre and Carlo Sarrabezolles. Front, are the Trocadero gardens, decorated with sculptures and a growing organized within a landscaped garden surrounding basins cascading fountain of Warsaw , erected in 1937 and by twenty-flowing jets water stepped in eight successive steps. Fevola Felix produced the reflecting pool and fountains . Everything is designed by architect Roger-Henri Expert.
The facades of the palace and blankets, its square and its terrace with its staircase, its remaining home decor (except theater review) have been classified historical monuments , by order of December 24, 1980 .
Content of the Palais de Chaillot
The Palais de Chaillot houses several museums including the Museum of Man , the Navy , the Theatre National de Chaillot and the City of Architecture and Heritage ( Museum of French monuments , Ecole de Chaillot and the French Institute of architecture (IFA). Restructuring of the wing of Paris was accompanied by the final move of the French Cinematheque at Bercy.
It was in this palace that the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on 10 December 1948.
The inscriptions on the facade of the palace are the work of the poet Paul Valery :

The organ Cavaille-Coll / Gonzalez
From its construction in 1972, the Palais de Chaillot housed a prestigious organ, organ of the old Trocadero, now that the Maurice Ravel Auditorium in Lyon.
