Olivier Chaline
Chaline Olivier, born in 1964 in Neuilly-sur-Seine , is a historian French modernist, a specialist in history of Central Europe.
Biography
Son of Jean-Pierre Chaline , himself a historian (specializing in nineteenth century ), and Nadine-Josette Chaline , also a historian, he entered the Ecole Normale Suprieure in the Rue d'Ulm in 1984 after a stint in preparatory classes of the Lycee Louis-le-Grand. After obtaining the aggregation of history, he taught at the ENS Ulm before being appointed professor at the University of Rennes II (1999-2001) then at the University of Paris IV (Paris-Sorbonne), ext he holds since 2001. It makes teaching assignments at the Charles University of Prague. He is director of the Center for History of Central Europe and the EDF and archeology maritime history, and Associate Research Centre historical societies and cultures of Western Europe (CRHISCO).
