The Norwegian colonial empire is the name given to the Norwegian possessions in the Middle Ages , although Norway has acquired new territories, particularly in Arctic and Antarctic during the twentieth century.

The Norwegian Empire was created through the power of the fleet he had Scandinavian and was primarily an island empire. He lost its territories in the fight against Scots , or disposed of Denmark with whom Norway was united in 1380 ( the Kalmar Union ).
