Nizar Bin Al Mustansir

Nizar bin al-Mustansir was born 26 September 1045 in Cairo. Her father is Al-Mustansir bi-llah eighth caliph Fatimid and eighteenth Imam Ismaili.

Biography

His father became caliph and imam in 1036 at the age of seven. He remained in the grip of his viziers. At his death in 1094, his last vizier Badr al-Jamali , in power since 1073 , managed to restore order in Egypt. But the empire continued to decline. The Seljuks took the Syria and parts of Saudi.

In 1062, Al-Mustansir bi-llah entrusts a mission Nizar, head of the armed Fatimids in the port of Damietta .

In 1078 , Hassan ibn al-Sabbah is in Cairo. The court is divided on the choice of the successor of al-Mustansir Billah throne on caliph. Nizar is the designated successor of his father, but the vizier Badr al-Jamali have preferred it to be his younger brother Al-Musta'lis. In 1090 , Hassan ibn al-Sabbah took the side that would be the rightful heir Nizar . He went to Persia where he took the fortress of Alamut , near Qazvin.

Badr al-Jamali died at the end of 1094. His son Al-Afdhal succeeded him in his duties with the title of vizier Shahanshah. On the death of the caliph, shortly after Al-Afdhal will impose the candidacy of Al-Musta'lis which is only twenty years, making his irreconcilable enemy Nizar . Al-Musta'lis is married to the daughter of Al-Afdhal . Al-Afdhal justify the appointment. He reportedly claimed that al-Mustansir had changed his mind, he presented as an argument the testimony of the sister of al-Mustansir . Nizar took refuge in Alexandria where he has few supporters. He then takes the title of Mustapha li-Din Allah and installs a mission Ismaili propaganda. Hassan ibn al-Sabbah that leads the dissemination of Ismailis in Persia pledged his support. With the help of the Governor of Alexandria Aftakin Nasr al-Daula, who is jealous of Al-Afdhal, Nizar Al-managed to repulse Afdhal first time into the suburbs of Cairo. Al-Adfal takes up arms and come to lay siege to Alexandria. The city surrendered shortly thereafter. Nasr al-Daula Aftakin is sentenced to death and executed . Nizar is captured and taken to Cairo, where his brother Al-walled Musta'lis the fact .

Nizar died in prison in 1097 . His son 'Ali Nizar bin al-Hadi was murdered along with his father. Only the little son of Nizar have escaped death, led by trusted servants in Persia fleeing from Hassan ibn al-Sabbah at Alamut. He was raised with care by Hassan ibn al-Sabbah, the Grand Master of the sect of Assassins, in great secrecy perpetuating Ismailism Nizari . Those who followed al-Musta `li, are the Mustaliens.
