Nawal El Moutawakel
Nawal El Moutawakil, born 14 April 1962 in Casablanca ( Morocco ), is a Moroccan athlete.
Sports experience
- Starting his sports career in 1978, his coach, Jean-Franois Coquand, advises him two years later to opt for the 400-meter hurdles. In 1982, she won two gold medals at the African Championships over 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles.
- She won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Casablanca in 1983, during which she went to the U.S. to pursue studies in physical education.
- In 1984, Nawal El Moutawakil down in history as the first female Arab, African and Muslim woman to win a gold medal at the Olympics in Los Angeles by spraying at the same time the African record in the 400 meter hurdles in 54 s 61.
- In 1989 she began coaching career after obtaining a diploma in physical education from the American University of Iowa.
- In 2004-2005, she served as Director of "Sahara Sports Academy-Amby Vally - INDIA" and from 1998 to 2003, the Executive Director of the Foundation BMCE Bank for education and the environment.
- In January 2010 , she was ranked 2nd in the French newspaper L'quipe pioneers of African sport Course with sports bodies
- In 1995, Nawal El Moutawakil was elected to the executive committee of the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) before being named vice-president of the federation.
- In 1998 she became a member of the International Olympic Committee.
- In 1999 she was appointed member of the IOC 2000 Commission, whose mission was to prepare and propose any recommendations, before being chosen in August of that year by the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Commissioner 2000, whose mission was to make recommendations regarding changes in the structure, organization and statutes of the IOC.
- Moroccan Olympic champion in 2005 was named a member of the Coordination Commission for the Olympics-2012.
- In January 2007 she was appointed Vice-President of the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation (FRMA).
- On 7 August 2008 , she was appointed to the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
- In July 2004 she was president of the IOC Evaluation Commission for 2012 Olympics awarded to the city of London.
- On 13 January 2010 , Nawal has been named president of the Coordination Commission for the Olympics was in 2016 .
