Nature is a journal of general reference, refereed and published weekly. This is one of the oldest scientific journals and most famous in the world. It was launched in 1869 by Briton Joseph Norman Lockyer with a vocation for excellence in all areas of so-called hard sciences: physics , mathematics , chemistry , biology , genetics , but also many so-called science accurate as paleontology , science of evolution , the archeology , etc., and sometimes even some aspects of social sciences .

It is published by the British media group Nature Publishing Group and the current editor is Philip Campbell .
